We have released ARP-SMS designed to allow IBM i customers to support SMS messaging directly from their applications.  While ARP-SMS can be downloaded for free from our site, it requires a subscription the Twilio network.     

ARP-SMS has many capabilities despite its simplicity.   There are CL commands for sending messages to individuals or to recipients in a broadcast message list.   We have created several sample CL programs that can be downloaded that show how to use ARP-SMS in scheduled job or as an alerting tool for sending messages.   There is also an example program that can be implemented to monitor QSYSOPR and process replies to messages.

We are quite open to suggestions for new features to add to ARP-SMS so please don't be shy and let us know.   We are working on another product that will interface to the ARP-SMS network and will provide support for Two Factor Authentication via a smartphone.   We will be updating this blog as well as our customer support forum when that product is released.
